Poetry Book Update: Length, Release Date, and a Giveaway

A couple of months ago, I announced on here that I’m in the process of creating a poetry book that I’m going to self publish. The last couple of months have been filled with exams, volunteer work, and catching up with friends, but I’ve also (somehow) found time to work on the book. I previously wrote a update on how it was going, but have made a lot of headway since then. Here’s an update of how it’s going.

Publishing

I’ve been poking around in Createspace and have found that, using them, you have the option to have both print and digital copies of your book made. However, I’m also going to use Smashwords so that I can reach a larger audience.

Title and Format

The title has actually been figured out since I started writing this book, and is what I’ve based my entire theme on, but I’m keeping it a secret until I’m much closer to publishing because I want it to be a surprise.

Progress

I’m up to 140 pages of poems, but with the introduction, cover pages, and acknowledgments, I’m at about 150 pages. I’m also up to about thirty doodles, but I’m not sure how these will fit in yet. As in, I’m not sure if they’ll have their own page, or share a page with the corresponding poem.

Length and Release Date

My goal is 200+ pages, and I’m hoping to hit that by the end of October, then use the remaining time to edit and format the book how I want it to fit together. If things go quicker than expected, the book will be released sooner than originally planned, which was December 1st, 2017.

Giveaway Contest

I’ll be doing a giveaway contest much closer to the release date so that some of you can win a free book! I haven’t ironed out the details yet, but I’ll post about it as soon as I know more.

I’m beyond excited to release this book into the world, but before that happens, it needs a bit more work. I can’t wait to share it with you!
